CECS Seminars Help

How to add a seminar:

Clicking on the "Add Seminar" link will ask you for a username and password - you should use your ANU ID (typically uXXXXXXX or aXXXXXX) and associated password. Only some people have been given access to add seminars - if you don't have access and think you should, email seminar-master@cecs.anu.edu.au.

A list of people who have the ability to add a seminar is available.

Once you have logged in, you should be able to fill in seminar details and submit a seminar to the list. It should become available immediately, and will be added to the email digest sent out on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

How to edit a seminar:

To edit a seminar that you have previously added, click on the "Edit Seminars" link above, and authenticate with your ANU ID and password.

You will be presented with a list of seminars that you have previously added. Clicking on the "EDIT" link for a seminar will allow you to change details, and clicking on the "DELETE" link for a seminar will remove it from the seminar site.

NOTE: You can only edit and delete seminars that you have added. If you need to reassign a seminar from one organiser to another, contact seminar-master@cecs.anu.edu.au

How to attach slides to a seminar:

Files containing seminar slides, or other relevant information can be added to the web site. To add a file to a seminar, click on the "Edit Seminars" link above, and authenticate with your ANU ID and password.

You will be presented with a list of seminars that you have previously added. Clicking on the "ADD FILES" link for a seminar will allow you to select a file to associate with that seminar.

Associated files will be shown on the detailed page for that seminar.

Please use file formats that are widely readable, such as text, HTML, RTF, PDF, or JPEG.

How to use the RSS feed:

RSS is an alternative view of a web page that allows you to subscribe and read the content in RSS newsreader software, or in your web browser. Contact your IT support staff if you require help with RSS reading software.

To subscribe to the RSS feed, either click the RSS link above, or put this URL into your RSS reader: http://cecs.anu.edu.au/seminars/rss.pl

How to use the ics Calendar:

The seminar listing is available as an ics/vCalendar subscription, which allows you to view upcoming seminars in a calendar application, such as iCal or Sunbird.

To subscribe to the calendar, first try clicking the "ics" link at the top of this page. If your computer has been configured to recognise such a link, it will import the calendar into your calendar software for you. You should then set up the calendar to refresh once per day, so that new seminars will show up in your calendar.

If the link above does not work automatically for you, you will need to set it up manually. The details for doing this vary according to which software you use for calendar viewing. You should subscribe to a calendar using the URL http://cecs.anu.edu.au/seminars/ics.pl, and set it up to refresh once per day. Your IT support staff may be able to help you set up a calendar if you have difficulty.

To reduce the size of the calendar download, only seminars that have occurred in the previous week, or will occur in the future, will be shown in the calendar. For older data, consult this website.
