Static concentrators can concentrate sunlight by a factor of 2-3 without moving parts, and allow a reduction in the number of solar cells deployed per m2. Tandem systems comprising two different types of solar cell, or a solar cell and a thermal energy ourput, are also possible. Modelling, fabrication and characterisation of systems is required.
