The biggest tick of all from Engineers Australia
"I am delighted to announce that the Bachelor of Engineering, and the Bachelor of Software Engineering degree programs will be recommended for full re-accreditation by the Engineers Australia panel," said Professor Chris Baker, Dean of the College.
"The new Bachelor of Engineering (Research and Development) has been given provisional accreditation," he said.
Professor Baker said that this was exactly the result that the College had sought, and represented the best achievable outcome for the programs.
"The Engineers Australia panel was most effusive in their praise of our programs and especially of the professionalism and dedication of our staff, academic, technical and administrative alike," said Professor Baker.
The College programs were described as extremely strong, vibrant with a unique underpinning systems approach that culminates in a most highly respected set of degrees. There was also much made of the way in which the College has brought together research and education and the sense of team embodied within research groups.
"It was a source of great personal pleasure and pride to receive this feedback and to be a part of such a fantastic CECS team," said Professor Baker noting that recommendations for improvement were noteworthy for their small number (four) and minor nature.
"My thanks go to one and all but I should single out Paul Compston, Shayne Flint, Chris Johnson, Margaret Wigney, Thushara Abhayapala and Henry Gardner for pulling our submission together and orchestrating the visit," said Professor Baker.
Current and prospective students can now be even more confident that they have access to the best engineering programs on offer in Australia.
