Navigating and communicating with neighbors deep under water is a difficult task (unless you're a fish) since there is no GPS, radio communication is very limited, and vision is essentially useless.

Mr Navinda Kottege is one of the researchers at the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science who are exploring how robots can do this for a variety of applications. He explains the challenges researchers have to overcome to build swarms of robots that can move and communicate independently, and with each other, in this recent podcast.
