ARC grant successes for CECS

Prof Chris Baker, Dean
A comprehensive, centralised grants process initiated at the College-wide research Forum on 1 December 2006 is one of the many elements that has contributed to a 7% increase in the College success rate for ARC Discovery Projects in the last two years.

"We have almost doubled our success rate for Linkage Grants in 2009," said Professor Chris Baker, newly appointed Dean of the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science.

"Our ARC Discovery and Linkage projects demonstrate the adventurous spirit and breadth of expertise that we have in the College, from application driven research to the 'blue sky' research that will enhance the ability of the research community to invent new technologies for the future," he said.

"The quality of our staff and students in these new projects, and in all our activities, is crucially important as we undertake new strategies to further build the College's reputation as a world's best research and teaching institution in engineering and computer science," he said.
