Operation Vision


Ramtin at the Canberra Hospital
Imagine the benefits of seeing through the body of a patient during an operation and being able to look at high quality 3D images of anatomical structure such as tissues, bones, vasculature, and tumours in real-time. This is the future of image guided intervention in surgical procedures and according to Ramtin Shams, PhD student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, such technology is not only plausible, but also close to development.

Ramtin's research has won him a 2008 Fullbright Scholarship which he takes up in a few months time.
