Mr Rahul Gandhi MP, visits solar thermal technologies

Fourth generation Indian politician and member of the Indian Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, recently visited ANU to learn more about solar energy activities at the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science.

At the College we research photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies that turn solar radiation into electricity. Two high profile developments that have originated within the College's solar groups are the Sliver Cell photovoltaics technology now being commercialised by our industry partner, Origin Energy, and the Big Dish solar thermal power technology now being commercialized by another industry partner in Canberra, Wizard Power.

Professor Lawrence Cram and Professor Mick Cardew-Hall welcomed Mr Gandhi at the Big Dish before he started his whirlwind site visits and briefings on solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies.

He left with a strong impression of our world leading research and our capacity for collaboration with Indian industry.
